In relation to a previous entry stating my exasperation for my batch mates getting hitched. Just the other day, another friend texted me to say that I am invited to her wedding. Uhm, nothing unusual. However, there's catch to that SMS. She actually invited me to host her wedding.
I thought it was a prank. Why on Earth would I host an event like that when QUITE OBVIOUSLY I am not one. Did she think I was showbiz? Not because I look like Tim Yap or Bong Revilla should i be considered to host, yes?
Let me see... Backtracking, I've actually hosted a couple of event when I was still in school. But those were really amateurish. I'd yap on the mic but really not make any sense. Hey, I was just a kid trying to yap my way there. More importantly, it was just us students. Although I've also hosted an event for a cell group where I was asked to speak in Chinese as well, but that was just in the presence of old ladies and gents. Does that count as official? Hardly.
So I wonder what gives? I didn't react to her text because I thought she was just kidding, or the message missent. But days after she texted me again waiting for my reply.
I investigated thoroughly and she confirmed that I am whom she really wants. For a moment or so, I had an introspection.
Can I really do this? Why shouldn't I do it? Nothing wrong, there's always a first. More important, I think I can hack it. I just need material.
But what sets me back is the fact there will be people whom I don't know. There'll be people who'd for sure be criticizing me. I know, because I always always criticize the host. Am I ready?
For kicks, i said yes. Heck. What can go wrong? I'll just sing and smile if everything else fails.
Wish me luck :)
